China’s External Dependence on Fluorite Exceeds 30%, Mongolia Tops Import Sources

Industry surveys show that China’s external dependence on fluorite has surpassed 30%, transforming the country from a net exporter to a structural net importer. Mongolia is the largest source of imported fluorite, accounting for over 60% of total imports, followed by Mexico and South Africa. In May alone, 150,000 tons of qualified Mongolian fluorite entered China via Erenhot Port, mainly supplied to the domestic fluorine chemical and new energy industrial chains. Low-arsenic fluorite enjoys zero tariff treatment, which greatly boosts the competitiveness of Mongolian mineral resources and drives the steady growth of cross-border supply chain demands.
