Domestic Fluorite Prices Edge Down, Import Supplies Put Pressure on Spot Market
According to market data, domestic fluorite prices trended slightly lower in May. The average price of 97% wet fluorite powder stood at 3,468.75 RMB per ton, down 1.42% month-on-month and 1.60% year-on-year. Mining production in northern China has resumed rapidly, and newly discovered fluorite deposits in Sichuan and Gansu are expected to increase long-term supply. Large volumes of fluorite imported from Mongolia arrived successively, with arrivals surging by about 40% month-on-month from April to May. The landed price of imported fluorite is 300 to 500 RMB per ton lower than domestic products. Meanwhile, zero tariff policy for low-arsenic fluorite further strengthens its price advantage. Affected by weak demand, the operating rate of hydrofluoric acid manufacturers remained around 50%. The market is featured with sufficient supply, sluggish rigid demand and limited price decline.
